I am a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) and have been the administrator at GRVH since October 2000. I’ve been technician and manager in mixed and small animal hospitals since 1983, including 5 years as administrator at a central veterinary hospital serving 13 city clinics in Victoria, BC. I love working with animals, with the people who own animals, and especially with my staff, who dedicate their careers to serving, and advocating for, our patients. I graduated (a long time ago) from University of Guelph with a BSc.(Agriculture) in Microbiology. In the 1990’s, I certified at the Veterinary Management Institute at Purdue University’s Graduate School of Executive Management, and also did my Certificate in Business Administration at the University of Victoria.
Outside of work, my husband and I enjoy training and performing obedience, rally obedience, carting, tracking, agility and other activities with our Bernese Mountain and mixed breed dogs. Currently, they are: “Cadence” (4 years), silly, enthusiastic dog who is becoming a great working dog, – she has obedience, rally, tracking and agility titles and is working at advanced obedience and agility levels, and new “Bluez”, a Golden Retriever X foster dog from Canon’s Cause. We are active teaching members/volunteers with the Hamilton Dog Obedience Club, do a lot of charity work (often involving our dogs) and have taken up ballroom dancing as a later life sport. “Caber”, “Aldur” and “Ali”, beloved Bernese Mountain Dogs, “Canon” beloved Canon’s Cause spokesdog and joy of my life for six short years, and Javanese “Sass” are waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.
Our household is supervised by our Siamese cats, “Nikohl” and “Kendra”.
